HISTORY & AGENDA
Since its founding in 1997, the Georgia Micro Enterprise Network, GMEN, has worked to build the capacity of micro enterprise organizations around the U.S., with a primary focus on the State of Georgia. As the Georgia state association for micro enterprise, GMEN provides the primary infrastructure for assembling and disseminating information on U.S. micro enterprise development to MDOs across the state. With GMEN's support, its members have successfully grown and developed over the past 20 years. The number of disadvantaged entrepreneurs served has grown; the types of services offered have increased. GMEN's members helped businesses start and grow, creating and sustaining jobs. GMEN’s role in this development through its Training and Technical Assistance, program administration, research, and leadership has been critical. With the Conference theme “ME-GA: Celebrate, Evaluate, Innovate” from Micro Enterprises to Mega Businesses”, the 2017 Annual Meeting will challenge participants to outline a vision for the future of the micro enterprise field, where entrepreneurship can be made available and accessible to all, including the poor, underserved and dislocated middle class to become engines for job creation and economic growth across the state of Georgia.
During the conference we will focus on a celebration our past, evaluating our present and innovations needed for our future growth and sustainability. Attendees will be challenged to generate “3 Big Bold Goals” around Working Group topics that will serve as a blueprint for action.
GMEN AWARDS DINNER
At every conference GMEN recognizes individuals and organizations who have made a difference in the lives of Georgia’s entrepreneurs. During our 20th Year Celebration we will also recognize the “Pioneers of Our Field” that have provided support to our work in the early phases, some who even today continue to support our work. The Celebration Dinner with a “Hollywood Flair” is an event you don’t want to miss!
